Pastors Steve and Patty Perry led a congregation that founded Alexandria First Assembly of God in 1980. They first gathered for services in the storefront at 7827 Alexandria Pike, where Daniel Sheridan Dentistry is now located.
On August 7, 1981, the congregation became incorporated as First Assembly of God of Alexandria. The newly formed church purchased the property on the southwest corner of US 27 and Heritage Court on August 28, 1981, where they are still located. While waiting for the building's completion, church services were conducted in the small gymnasium at Campbell County High School, now known as Campbell County Middle School. The first service in the newly built church was in September 1983.
Since its inception, Alexandria First Assembly of God has been involved in community outreach through vacation Bible schools, teen activities, local, regional, and international mission outreaches, weekly Bible studies, and Sunday church services. Pastor Tony Spence, the current pastor, has a vision of "Connecting Our Community to Christ." Alexandria First is a friendly, loving congregation that functions like a big family. If there is a need in the family or outside the family, Alexandria First is happy to help.
